CHANGES Season 2 - Bigger, Better and Bolder.

If you never got the opportunity to see CHANGES Season 1, then you better brace yourself for a bigger and better Season 2. The new Season features 26 Episodes compared to 13 on the last Season. Radio BARKULAN for Somali.

We all know what Somali is known for - Civil wars and lately a surge in Piracy on the Indian Ocean. In an effort to bring peace and reconcilliation in the war torn country, Radio Okapi and UN have launched a radio station - Radio Barkulan. Mr David Smith of Radio Okapi approached Decimal Media for the recording of all the station songs and ID tags. It was a life time experience recording the Traditional Somali jingles. Mr Vladamir Louvrier from Switzerland was in charge of the branding and he did a fantastic job, with the help of Liban our translator. MAKMENDE Goes Viral on Kenyan's and the World

Earlier we announced that Just-A-Band had finished recording a single for their up-coming album titled 82. The second single of the album is title Ha-He produced by Decimal Media's producer Eric Musyoka. The video of the song has caused an internet craze in the country and ultimately the whole world. Wall Street Journal blogged about it, Zain Verjee of CNN Twitted about Makmende, and Don Ridell of CNN too talked about Makmende, and Bruce Sterling blogged about him. Makmende was the most Twitted word in Africa and even on Google search. The song and video has catupulted JAB to new heights and created an exposure never witnesed before in Kenyan Music history. Decimal Media is proud to be associated with Makmende and congratulations to JAB! Google it and learn more about him....... we cant write it or else he will shut our site down :-) Ssshhhhhh!



"Togetherness Supreme gets a big nod at the African Film Academy Awards

Hot Sun foundation has released a follow up movie after the success of Kibera Kid. The movie titled Togtherness Supreme, aims to sensitise people on the impact of political violence as witnessed in our own country 2 years ago after a hotly contested general election that left the country divided. The movie is based around Kamau, who is gravely affteced by the violnce and looses all he has in Kibera. Decimal Media provided post production services for the film. The film has been nominated in 4 categories in the African Film Academy Awards. The film was directed by Nathan Collet and Produced by Mercy Murugi.



BBC "The Great Rift" Music from Kenya

The British Broadcasting Corporation has commisioned Emmy Award winning Composer Barnaby Taylor to write music for their new documentary "The Great Rift. Following the success of "Wild China" ( 3 Emmy Awards)Barnaby Taylor sought to get a very aunthentic African sound especially from Kenya, which forms part of the Rift Valley. With the expertise at Decimal, Barnaby was able to record some of the best traditional ensemble and solo pieces from the country. The Orchestra recording to accompany the African samples was recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios by the BBC Orchestra.



Just - A - Band (New Album)

JUST A BAND a band that is in a class of its own has just completed the final touches on their latest album titled 82. 82 contains a Decimal Records production. Its a very unique song that is a cross between african traditonal, electro pop and rock, a truly experimental song true to JAB's own nature of experimental music. The song is Titled "Ha-He" and is written by JAB's Blinky and Eric Musyoka and additional production by JAB. This is the second album after the success of their first album "Scratch to Reveal" that also featured a song mixed at Decimal Studio's. Decimal Media will always continue to support new innovative ways to music production and compositon.

MNET Contemporary Drama - CHANGES.

Changes is brand-new comical contemporary drama. The usually private secrets of three urban couples, living in the up-market Makao Close apartment block in Nairobi are revealed. The series combines humour and drama, delving deep into the lives of this dynamic cocktail of East African nationalities as they work through domestic struggles and family life with all its joy's, desires, frustrations, tensions and secrets. The Video production was handled by BIG IDEAS ENTERTAINMENT. Decimal Media handled Audio Post - Production and the Series features music from Decimal Media Songwriter Eric Musyoka. The series is a first in Kenya and its bound to raise the standards of TV and Film production in the Country and put Kenya on the map for high quality productions. The shows Premiers on DSTV channel 101 - MNET EAST on 23rd June.

Strathmore KILELE CHOIR records Debut Album.

Strathmore University Choir - Kilele has just concluded the recording of their Debut Album. Since its founding (Kilele Choir) in 1997, its been along journey and they expect to continue the spirit. Decimal Engineer Eric Musyoka was tasked with the work of the recording, mixing and mastering the 10 track album. It featuires a collection of Kenyan Folk songs from diffrent tribes. Choir master Albert Apela and Dean of Student Paul Ochieng were very instrumental in the succes of the project. The choir travels to South Africa for a Tour in April.

Nonini Presents THE GOD FATHER

Nonini. one of the pioneers of Genge music is back in the lab for his 3rd studio album title "THE GODFATHER". Nonini is a force to reckon with in the music industry having hit the scene with hits like "Keroro", "Furahiday", "Manzi wa Nairobi" among many others. This time his music takes a very chilled out approach and away from the usual stuff expected. We cant disclose much but let the new single "KADHAA" give you a hint of whats to come.

Nikki - New album in the Making.

R'N'B Singer and radio personality Nikki - Sheila Mwanyigha, is all set to relesase her 2nd Album tittle (TBA). The album is slated for an Easter release but the first single is set for release in February. The album is a deviation from her usual r"n"b dominated style and this time she takes on a diffrent approach - not too drastic but very captivating. The production is coordinated by Decimal Records and features other producers such as Tshazi and RKay. Look out for this very intresting album.

Dimple Will Recording 3rd Album.

Guitarist and vocalist Dimple Will has completed the recording of his 3rd Solo project at Decimal Studios. The album features sounds from Africa played by some of the best Musicians in Kenya including Nyamongo (Nyatiti), Chalo T Obuya (Drums) and Aron "Krucial Keys" on Piano. The album is a musical journey through Africa for the Nepal Based musician. His other projects can be purchased at CDBABY and soon to be available is this incredible album.

P-Unit Recording their Debut Album.

Genge Group - P-Unit is in studio recording their debut album. After a succesful stint with the runaway hits like "Si Lazima" and "Kushoto Kulia" P-Unit has hit the studio to record more songs for their debut album title TBA with producers from all over East Africa, from mandugu digital, lamar, clemo and musyoka. The album is slated for an early 2009 release under Decimal Records.

Juliani in Studio.

Gospel Hip-Hop sensation Juliani is busy in studio recording a few singles for his up-coming Gatwitch Records Release Mtaa - Mentality. Decimal Records is contributing a few songs for the release which features Eric Wainaina, Kanji Mbugua and Wenyeji in some of the song. The lead single "Biceps" is a Decimal Records release.
